We mark special events such as HMD and Yom Hashoah with special assemblies. We invite guest speakers to talk about the experiences of their parents/grandparents during the Holocaust. This year Lauren Clyne came in with a suitcase her grandmother had brought with her on the kindertransport and year 5 & 6 pupils were able to see all the different items contained in the suitcase. Noemie Lopian also came in to tell her mother's life story during the Holocaust. The children gain a lot from hearing about these real life experiences.
For Yom Ha'atzmaut the whole school is a sea of blue and white. We have a special assembly with lots of singing and dancing followed by a day of fun activities and a special israeli lunch.
For Lag B'Omer, the hall is transformed into a fair with bouncy castles and activities. Years 5 & 6 also enjoy a picnic in the park with archery and other outdoor games.
Reception hold a very special brachot party at the end of the year to mark the end of their brachot topic. All the children enjoy making the brachot over the different types of food laid out and hearing everybody answer Amen. They sing songs about all the different brachot. Please see pictures below.

Rabbi Walker came into school for another superb Q&A session with year 6. Pupils had the opportunity to ask any jewish related questions they wanted.

KDPS pupils took part in a mitzva mission for Israel and did 865 mitzvot in 1 week.

Year 6 pupils took part in a supermarket challenge as the finale of their GIFT giving course with Rabbi Zeidman. The aim of this challenge was to teach them about budgeting, healthy eating, kashrut, empathy, the power of money and life skills. In teams of 3, they went around Tesco Cheetham Hill Branch, shopping for a family for a week with a total budget of £13. The staff at Tesco were so impressed with the beautiful behaviour of our pupils.

Rabbi Walker held a Q&A with our Year 6 Children.

GIFT came into school to run a session with Year 6 making decorations for the sukkah at Heathlands to bring joy to the residents.

Year 6 enjoyed their second Yehudi challenge event with Rav Elad. They bonded with their madrichim who are great role models and this will help our pupils as they move up into high school.

Year 6 pupils have taken part in the Yehudi program this year. They have enjoyed themed monthly sessions led by madrichim from year 12 in Yavneh and King David High School relating to the chagim and Israel with a final national challenge at the end of the year. These madrichim act as role models for our pupils and will continue to guide them as they move onto high school.
